South Colonie's Harassment/Bullying Report Site
Purpose: This website is meant to provide our school community with an additional outlet by which students and family members can freely report incidents involving harassment or bullying concerning CCHS students. The administration would like to emphasize that this site be used as a service secondary to those provided in school. We continue to encourage students to contact grade level administrators, guidance counselors and school social workers regarding reportable offenses. The following is Colonie Central School District's identification of harassment and the subsequent consequences as per board approved policy:
Infraction: Harassment (i.e., racial or otherwise): Includes all forms of electronic, verbal, or written communications
Consequences: (Note any and all listed consequences are applicable at the discretion of the governing administration)
A. Administrative conference in all cases. At the discretion of the administrator, a student may be given an educational packet to complete, a phone call may be made to parents, or the student may be suspended.
B. Conference with counselor, if necessary.
C. If appropriate, police may be notified and a complaint filed.
D. Possible removal from class if harassment is becoming disruptive to educational process, 3-5 day suspension.
E. Mandatory parent conference.
F. Repeated offenses result in a Superintendent’s hearing. The internet use policy addresses virtual/online/electronic abuses: Infraction: Disseminating information that is illegal, defamatory, abusive, threatening, or, racially offensive, affecting school functions or the daily activity of the school, or adult-oriented is not allowed whether or not the dissemination of the information occurs from the school terminals. Consequences: (Note any and all listed consequences are applicable at the discretion of the governing administration) A. Principal’s conference with student and parents and may result in 3-5 days external suspension.
